The first 2 photos are of the pond under construction. I designed and built the pond myself, except for some help from my husband on the excavation, and he and my 2 sons helped me get and place the largest rocks. I also had help from my husband, sister, and nephew laying the liner, which was very heavy. I did all the plumbing, lighting, landscaping, building the stream, waterfalls, bog area, and bridge. I am very satisfied with my accomplishments and proud of the results.
My daughter Alyssa, and grandson Cory, playing in the unfinished pond.
The deepest part is 3 ft, they are in the shallow side of course.
That's me hard at work digging the bog area. The  3 photos below are of the finished pond. They were taken in late June 2000. I began the pond in April 2000. I will update these photos this season, to show how the landscaping has grown in.
Water gardens are a great addition to your garden. One thing I've learned is, just let your imagination go. If you can dream it, you can build it! Two books that I found helpful were The Complete Pond Builder by Helen Nash, and Waterfalls, Fountains, Pools & Streams by Helen Nash and Eamonn Hughes. Your local library is a good place to start when looking for information on pond building.
In loving memory of my Mom.
The photos below show the pond later on  in the summer of 2000. The landscaping has really grown in and filled up the area nicely.
